- Adelaide (-)
Ladder position: 1st
If the Crows weren't flag favourites already, they certainly are now. Adelaide came out after quarter time and put Richmond to the sword, booting 16 goals to four after the opening break. The Crows are the real deal.
2. GWS (-)
Ladder position: 2nd
The Giants certainly didn't disappoint in their first ever Friday night contest, taking down the Dogs by just two points in a classic. Not everything went their way on the night however, with Toby Greene in hot water for this hit on Caleb Daniel, and one of their better defenders faces two months on the sideline with a hamstring injury.
3. Western Bulldogs (+1)
Ladder position: 7th
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs played some of their best football of 2017, and are starting to show signs of a premiership calibre side. The midfielder brigade was big for the Dogs, with Marcus Bontempelli and Jackson Macrae leading the way.
4. Port Adelaide (+2)
Ladder position: 5th
Port Adelaide have broken into the top four of the Power Rankings for the first time this season, after smashing Brisbane by 83 points at the Gabba on Saturday night. Charlie Dixon, Jarman Impey and Robbie Gray all kicked four goals each, as Ken Hinkley's men continue to impress early in the season.
5. Geelong (-2)
Ladder position: 3rd
The Cats were finally beaten over the weekend, as Collingwood kicked 12 goals to eight after quarter time to slowly but surely edge away from Geelong all afternoon. Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood could only manage 38 disposals between them, which means the Cats have failed in their first test without a strong performance from 'Dangerwood'.
6. West Coast (+1)
Ladder position: 6th
The Western derby is always a massive clash each time it comes around, and the Eagles took bragging rights from Fremantle with a dominant 41-point win on Saturday night. West Coast jumped out to a six-goal led at quarter time and didn't look back, with Elliott Yeo once again impressing with 32 touches and 14 marks.
7. Richmond (-2)
Ladder position: 4th
The Tiger train came to a grinding halt against Adelaide on Sunday, but they may take solace in their first quarter performance. Richmond did everything right and led the Crows at the first change, before unraveling under Adelaide's constant pressure and fading out of the match quickly. A massive test against the Bulldogs this weekend awaits.
8. St Kilda (-)
Ladder position: 9th
St Kilda ended Hawthorn's dominant reign in Tasmania quite severely, smashing the Hawks by 75-points. The Saints came into their own in the second half and put Hawthorn away, but will be challenged by the Giants on Friday night, and will be eager to show how far they've come.
9. Melbourne (-)
Ladder position: 8th
After a poor start to the game the Dees blew out Essendon after half-time, overrunning the Bombers who were coming off a five-day break. Clayton Oliver, Nathan Jones and Jordan Lewis stood up for Melbourne, as they managed to grab the points without Jesse Hogan.
10. Fremantle (-)
Ladder position: 11th
A disappointing evening for Fremantle, who would have entered the game with confidence on the back of three straight wins. The Dockers are now 3-3 after an up-and-down start to the season, and will look to get back on track as they host Essendon on Sunday.
11. Collingwood (+3)
Ladder position: 12th
After a tough week for the Pies, they bounced back from an ANZAC Day loss to the Bombers and endured a five-day turnaround to stun Geelong on Sunday at the MCG. The performance will take the pressure off Nathan Buckley for now, although a must-win game against Carlton awaits.
12. Essendon (-1)
Ladder position: 10th
The short break got to Essendon in the end, as the Bombers kicked just six goals after half-time to Melbourne's 13. Joe Daniher had an afternoon to forget, finishing with 1.6 and one out on the full.
13. North Melbourne (+4)
Ladder position: 15th
I think I've been too harsh on North Melbourne. The Roos nabbed their first win of the season when they defeated Gold Coast on Saturday night, but could easily have been 3-3 through six rounds had the close contests gone their way over recent weeks.
14. Gold Coast (-2)
Ladder position: 13th
Having beaten Carlton at Etihad just a few weeks prior, the Suns would have taken confidence into their game with North Melbourne, but they just weren't good enough when it mattered, falling to their fourth loss of the season.
15.ย Carlton (+3)
Ladder position: 14th
Not many would have tipped the Blues to topple Sydney on Saturday, but Carlton put in a promising performance and took it to the Swans all day en route to a 19-point victory. Expect a fiery contest against Collingwood next weekend.
16.ย Brisbane (-)
Ladder position: 16th
The Lions started the season with some solid patches of football against some good opponents in recent weeks, but couldn't get anything going against Port Adelaide on Saturday.
17. Hawthorn (-4)
Ladder position: 17th
Just when you think the Hawks might be back on the up, they put in a performance like that. Their 19-game win streak in Tasmania is now over, and the season just gets longer for Hawks fans.
18. Sydney (-3)
Ladder position: 18th
Who would have thought the only winless side through six matches in 2017 would have been Sydney? Amazing. Another poor performance against Carlton, and now Swans fans will be seriously praying for a home win against Brisbane this weekend.
