We have a new clubhouse leader. GWS' final term against the Pies was fantastic, with the Giants finishing the game with just one healthy player on the bench. Stevie J showed he's still got something to give, with that rove and goal a textbook play from a small forward.
2. Adelaide (-1)
While the North Melbourne loss may have been been a little hurdle, the mound suddenly got a touch bigger on Saturday night. Melbourne booted nine unanswered goals over the second and third quarters, and their fortress of a home ground doesn't look quite as daunting anymore.
3. West Coast (+1)
The best news for the Eagles is they don't have to play at the MCG again this home-and-away season, and the way they're going they might only have to play their just once more, in the big one. Their home form is quite impressive, as West Coast continue to sneak under the radar of the top two sides, although a home qualifying final is certainly within their reach.
4. Western Bulldogs (-1)
Another close away loss to the Bulldogs, but with the amount of players they have sidelined, there isn't too much cause for concern here.
5. Port Adelaide (-)
The Power's venture to China was ultimately a success, purely based on the fact they got the job done over a poor Suns outfit. They're hot on the tail of the top four.
6. St Kilda (+1)
While it wasn't all that convincing, the Saints fought hard to hold off Carlton and get a win they just needed to pull out. Jack Billings impressed in his 50th, and St Kilda have put themselves right in the mix of this tight competition.
7. Geelong (-1)
Geelong have probably been the most disappointing side over the past three weeks. A loss to Essendon could have been a 40+ point margin had they not fought back hard in the last quarter, and the Cats are now in trouble, with the 'they only have Dangerfield and Selwood' argument looking truer by the week.
8. Fremantle (+1)
What a brilliant win. The Dockers do have a good record at the MCG but they weren't really given a chance to beat Richmond, and they really should have done it with ease. David Mundy's winner got his side what they deserved, but they should have held on to their 30-point three-quarter time lead a bit better.
9. Richmond (-1)
A poor performance all afternoon, expect for 19 minutes and 39 seconds in the final quarter. The last 21 seconds will haunt the Tigers for the rest of the season, so they quicker they can move on the better.
10. Melbourne (-)
Not only was it one of the upsets of the round, but it was one of the biggest results of the entire season. The Demons dominated Adelaide in the second and third quarter kicking nine unanswered goals, and Simon Goodwin's men are starting to cement themselves as a finals-calibre side.
11. Essendon (-)
A strong result for the Bombers, who really haven't hit the wall John Worsfold suggested they did just three weeks into the season. If Essendon can continue to grind out results like this, then it'll go a long way to keeping them in the hunt at the end of the year.
12. North Melbourne (-1)
All in all a poor performance by North Melbourne, in probably their worst effort of the season. Following two wins on the bounce you could have asked for a better showing from the Roos, but for a young side you're always going to get games like that.
13. Carlton (-1)
Carlton definitely deserve their spot on the ladder. For a side that was predicted to battle Brisbane for the wooden spoon, the Blues put up another strong fight on the weekend, and took it up to a solid St Kilda outfit. Brendan Bolton has his side in a good position.
14. Hawthorn (+2)
Three of the last four has lifted Hawthorn out of their early season slump, although there's still plenty of work to do. After everything they've been through however, they are just two wins out of the eight.
15. Sydney (+2)
Like Hawthorn, Sydney are now starting to get their grove together, but again do still have a long way to go. A better performance from their stars saw they roll over North Melbourne with relative easy, with their final two matches before the bye now crucial in a bid to save their season.
16. Gold Coast (-3)
Over in China on a neutral ground the Suns had they chance to take it to the Power, but they failed miserably. Whenever you kick four goals for the game, you know you've had a pretty poor showing.
17. Collingwood (-2)
Consistency, anyone? Collingwood may be a bit stiff in slipping down two places despite taking the Giants to the wire, but with three extra men for the final 10 minutes, they just simply have to win.
18. Brisbane (-)
The Lions suffered another big loss on the weekend, as Chris Fagan continues to experiment with his young side.
