The AFL have officially released the fixture for Rounds 16-23, while Round 24 remains as a floating fixture.

Collingwood have emerged as big winners after their stellar start to the season, earning four Friday night slots in the newly scheduled eight rounds, while Port Adelaide will feature in six prime-time games of their own.

Thursday night footy is also back on the agenda, featured in Rounds 16, 17 and 18 as the league gears up for the fixture to feature more prominently in the coming years.

The Showdown has been scheduled for Saturday night in Round 20, while the Q-Clash, The Showdown, Sydney Derby XXVI, and the Western Derby have also been given prime-time slots across Rounds 20-22

AFL executive Travis Auld said the league was ready for the second half of the season after record-breaking attendance figures in 2023 so far.

“After record-breaking crowds and viewership numbers in the first nine rounds, we're set to launch into the back-half of the season and into the 2023 Toyota AFL Finals Series,” Auld said.

“We've listened to fans and fixtured an additional three Thursday night games, taking us to 11 for the year – one more than 2022.

“The season is wide open, with at least a dozen teams vying for a spot in September.”
