A $4 million offer to return home is understood to have Gold Coast forward Izak Rankine heavily contemplating a move to Adelaide at season's end.
Rankine remains yet to recommit to the Suns beyond this year and is the club's No.1 retention target, with th Queensland club having locked away fellow interstate products Ben King and Jack Lukosius to new deals in 2022.
The South Australian goalsneak was tipped to be a near certainty to follow in the footsteps of his fellow 2018 first-round selections and re-sign with the Suns, however increased interest from rival clubs looks to have shaken the situation.
The Bombers made an aggressive bid to secure Rankine recently, however their advances were knocked back by the 22-year-old.
Now, according to SEN's Sam Edmund, the Crows are forking up an equally significant offer that could tempt Rankine to return to his home state.
A reported five-year, $800,000-per-season deal has reportedly been floated, seeing Rankine's chances of re-signing with Gold Coast plummet.
The Suns' offer to retain Rankine is understood to be strong, but can't compete with that of the Crows as Gold Coast also plan to lock away off-contract players like Lachie Weller.
Edmund's report suggests that Rankine is yet to decide on his future, but is now seen more likely to head to West Lakes over remaining at Carrara.
A move back to Adelaide, where Rankine left four years ago, would see the young forward link up with his family in South Australia.
Currently enjoying a breakout year, Rankine has booted 27 goals from 17 games in 2022 to only see his asking price soar.
Rankine joined the Suns as the third overall selection in the 2018 draft and has played 46 games across three seasons, with his debut campaign marred by injury.
