Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley has reportedly told Luke Beveridge that he wants to be traded to Essendon.
Channel Seven's Tom Browne reports Dunkley is ready to sign a long-term deal with the Bombers worth up to $700,000 per year.
The Bulldogs have previously squashed speculation by saying they will not trade Dunkley, but new reports by Browne suggest a first-round pick could get the deal done.
“I’m getting renewed indications it will happen for a first-round pick,” Browne tweeted.
“I’m not willing to second guess the Dogs (stance), they seem steadfast it’s not on. But I’ve been told again Dunkley wants to go, and has told the Dogs, including the coach.”
Dunkley was used as an undersized ruckman by Beveridge this season, a role he does not enjoy and is keen for more midfield action.
Essendon has picks six and seven in the draft, which they received as compensation for Joe Daniher.
