Negotiations between the Swans and Crows for versatile midfielder Jordan Dawson are likely to be drawn out as Adelaide look to please Sydney's demands for the South Australian talent.
Dawson requested a trade back to his home state earlier this month, opting for the Crows over Port Adelaide in what is a major coup for the West Lakes club.
Sydney and Adelaide are now set to open up trade discussions to find an agreement, however the Crows' current draft hand looks likely to make initial talks difficult.
Adelaide currently hold picks 4, 23, 37, 59, 63 for the 2021 National Draft, with their first-round selections for both this season and next year seen as non-negotiable assets in trade discussions, per AFL.com.au.

The Swans are also unlikely to see Pick 23 as a fitting exchange for Dawson's services, leaving the outlook on a fitting exchange unclear.
The situation could see a third club brought into discussions in order to reach an agreement, with Dawson's worth ranging between picks 10-20.
Geelong and Fremantle also look likely to be reaching roadblocks for contracted Cats utility Jordan Clark, who is yet to formally request a move back to Western Australia.
The Dockers and Clark are understood to have met in recent weeks, with the 20-year-old weighing up his future.
Geelong have reportedly set an asking price somewhere between Fremantle's two draft selections of picks 8 and 27, while the Dockers are understood to see their latter pick as a fair exchange for the 32-gamer, per AFL Media.
Clark was recruited to the Cats as the 15th overall selection at the 2018 National Draft, and has shown promising glimpses in the hoops despite limited opportunities.
