Fremantle have conceded it is all-but a done deal that Adam Cerra will make his way to Victoria in the trade period, with his most likely landing spot being Carlton.
Cerra has developed into one the game's most exciting young midfielders and the Dockers will be filthy with losing a talent they spent four years developing.
Having just missed a finals berth in 2021, the Dockers aren't prepared to just head back to the draft and start again. Instead they have reportedly identified a replacement for the skilful midfielder.
The Herald Sun are reporting that Gold Coast midfielder Will Brodie is now on the radar of the Dockers. Brodie has been out of favour at the Suns for some time now and could be set for a move with the big bodied midfielder having plenty of attributes to make it at the level.

Fremantle will also soon need a replacement for David Mundy who is nearing retirement.
The 23-year-old would be a good fit for the Dockers who have looked to play skipper Nat Fyfe down forward in patches, with the likes of Cerra and Andrew Brayshaw taking the reigns in the midfield.
Tom Morris of Fox Sports said earlier in the season that Brodie was more than likely to depart the Suns, seeking further more opportunity.
“He’s been starved of opportunity, he’s played just five games in the last two year," Morris said.
"It’s a certainty in this year’s trade period that he’ll be looking for more opportunities elsewhere and the Suns, a bit like Peter Wright last year, will be happy to facilitate that.
“The real key question for Will Brodie is are any clubs interested in him? He‘s a good player inside, he’s a big body, but if no clubs are interested in him he’ll have to be at the Gold Coast Suns next year.
“It feels like in many ways Stuart Dew has stamped his papers.”
