The manager of Gold Coast midfield-forward Darcy Macpherson has put light on the situation surrounding his client.

Suns list manager Craig Cameron revealed on Tuesday that Macpherson - along with midfielder Will Brodie - would be open to departing the Queensland club this off-season.

Macpherson has played 62 games for the Suns since making his debut in 2016, but was limited to just the 11 appearances this season as Stuart Dew's midfield stocks continue to grow.

The likes of Touk Miller, Noah Anderson, Hugh Greenwood, Brandon Ellis, Matt Rowell and Brayden Fiorini commanded minutes in Dew's engine room throughout 2021, with Macpherson unable to cement his place at AFL level.

According to Macpherson's agent Scott Lucas, the Suns could look to part ways with a number of players in order to aid their salary cap, with Macpherson open to a potential trade.

Speaking on Trade Radio, Lucas said there remains to be plenty at play to see his client depart the Suns.

“Whether it’s realistic... there’s always a lot to work through,” Lucas said.

“You’ve got Gold Coast and you’ve got Darcy contracted. Then we’re looking for another team that’s prepared to take him on board and potentially trade for that.

“I think Gold Coast are looking at a couple of players who are in contract that they’d like, if they could, to find a (new) home for.

“I think that provides some salary cap relief and also provides some opportunities for that particular player who may not have those opportunities.”

Macpherson joined the Suns via the 2015 Rookie Draft after not being nominated by the Bulldogs as a potential father-son selection in the National Draft.

The 23-year-old is the son of former Footscray player and Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame member Stephen Macpherson.

Gold Coast have unofficially signed Tigers forward Mabior Chol via free agency as their first move of the off-season.
