2021 is the final year of the four-year deal Stringer signed with Essendon after leaving the Bulldogs at the end of 2017, earning a reported $500,000-per-season.

The club are likely to prioritise the retention of star midfielder Zach Merrett, who is seen as one of the most coveted players on the market this year.
The Bombers are looking to build on their young list and could see Stringer's possible departure open up opportunities for several rising stars.
Essendon landed three top 10 draft selections following a busy off-season last year that saw Joe Daniher, Adam Saad and Orazio Fantasia leave Tullamarine.
The Bombers are likely to accrue another top 10 draft selection in 2021 given their expected finish outside of the top-eight and currently don't hold another pick until the third-round.
