North Melbourne and Gold Coast are reportedly organising a deal that would see the Roos gain both Darcy MacPherson and a first-round pick while the Suns will gain breathing space in return.
In a move routinely undertaken in American sports, the Suns would be willing to part with both the 23-year-old and the 19th pick in the draft in what is known as a 'salary dump'.
According to AFL Media's Mitch Cleary, MacPherson would walk to Arden Street next season with North picking up the vast majority of the contracted Melburnian's wages.
The son of Footscray champion Steve MacPherson holds a with the Carrara club until the cessation of next season.
The proposed deal is seen as a win for all three parties involved as David Noble will receive both another offensive asset and key pick for his draft hand, while the Suns will gain cap space relief so that re-signing their many young stars won't become an issue in the future.
For Macpherson, a return home would also allow him a greater opportunity to add to his 62 senior games since 2016.
Though some may be left scratching their head as to how even this deal is, Cleary also reported that North would almost certainly need to part with a second or third-round selection in next year's draft to have the transfer officially ticked off.
Given that the Kangaroos currently hold picks 1 and 20, if this American flavoured agreement is seen out, the rebuilding club will hold three valuable first-round selections at November's draft.
