Swans free agent George Hewett is "very likely" to land at Carlton this off-season, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Hewett, who is among several Sydney players still out-of-contract, could depart the Swans this exchange period as the club looks to wrestle with a reported strain on their available salary cap.

Swans chief executive Tom Harley recently flagged that discussions with Hewett were yet to progress, with the midfielder's future up in the air.

The 25-year-old had also been linked to the Blues in the past, with Edmund stating a move to Ikon Park looks to be gaining momentum.

"George Hewett has been well paid, hence why he is a restricted free agent, we revealed he was on the trade table for a time last year," Edmund said on Whateley.

"He is very likely to move this year and very likely to be at Carlton.

"Sydney has shown zero interest in re-signing him at this stage and that’s unlikely to change."

Carlton are also tipped to be leading the race for wantaway Dockers midfielder Adam Cerra, who has requested a trade back to Victoria this off-season.

Hewett joins the likes of youngster Dylan Stephens, wingman Jordan Dawson and veteran Sam Reid in having their futures unclear heading into the trade window.

Both Adelaide and Port Adelaide are believed to have reignited their interest in Dawson, who hails from South Australia.

The versatile midfielder is yet to recommit to the Swans as the club looks to balance their salary cap situation.
