North Melbourne and veteran duo Jack Ziebell and Robbie Tarrant are still yet to agree to terms on new deals.
The duo are reportedly chasing multi-year deals, however the club is unwilling to offer anything more than a one-year deal to the ageing stars.
Sam Edmund is reporting that the management of the two defenders are still chasing two-year deals despite the resistance from the Kangaroos.
Ziebell found a new home in defence and was super for the Kangaroos this year while Robbie Tarrant had his year severely impacted by injuries.
North Melbourne made 15 list changes last year and are willing to make another heap this year in order to turn the list over as quickly as possible.
Shaun Atley, Atu Bosenavulagi, Tom Campbell, Trent Dumont, Kyron Hayden, Matthew McGuinness, Josh Walker and Lachie Young are all out of contract with the list lodgement date nearing.
Aaron Hall was on that list of uncontracted players until earlier this week when he signed a one-year extension. The deal is just rewards for Hall who became a metres gained beast off half back in 2021.
He averaged 637 metres gained per game this year.

Hall had been hoping for a two-year deal, but like Ziebell and Tarrant, the club was only willing to offer a one-year deal.
Hall said that the backing and belief he has from the coaching staff has allowed him to play his best footy.
“Nobes (coach David Noble) and Blakes (John Blakey), our defensive coach, they just always back you in," he said.
"I probably haven’t had that from coaching staff in my whole 10 years of playing.
"Those two especially give me that great confidence to just play the game and use my strengths and my weapons and bring that every week. I suppose it’s just given me a lot of confidence."
Campbell and Atley have been told to wait for any possible offers according to Edmund. The Kangaroos are putting a strict emphasis on youth and developing players of the future.
