Essendon are contemplating making an offer for North Melbourne forward Ben Brown as the 27-year-old weighs up his future.
A number of potential suitors have been linked to the key forward, with the Bombers now in position to make a play for Brown.
Brown's manager and Essendon champion Adam Ramanauskas is believed to be pleading his client's case to the Bombers, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.
Ramanauskas turned down a three-year deal for Brown from the Kangaroos, worth close to $850,000 per season, with the agent remaining in favour of a four-year deal with the club.
The AFL's 2020 campaign was soon in a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic and with Brown's form in question, a deal was far from agreed.
Ramanauskas is now in discussions with Bombers list manager Adrian Dodoro to prove Brown is the right player to don the sash.
Essendon are set to be greatly compensated with the imminent departures of star duo Adam Saad and Joe Daniher.
Saad has requested a trade to Carlton, while Daniher's move into free agency will likely give the Bombers a top 20 draft selection.
Orazio Fantasia is also set to request a trade to Adelaide despite being contracted for the 2021 season.
Brown booted 60+ goals in his three seasons prior to 2020 and will look to overcome a knee complaint in the upcoming off-season.
