Former St Kilda No.1 pick Paddy McCartin is believed to have held a medical with Carlton, according to journalist Tom Browne.
McCartin left the Saints after ongoing battles with concussion and has since been cleared by league representatives for a return to the AFL.
Sydney also expressed their interest in re-igniting McCartin's career several weeks ago, with a number of clubs seeking a key forward this off-season.
In a new trade development Iโm told Paddy McCartin has had a medical with Carlton. Iโm told today. Iโve checked with the Blues, they wonโt comment on it. @7NewsMelbourne
