Essendon are understood to be interested in Suns forward Peter Wright as a potential replacement for Joe Daniher, per SEN's Sam Edmund.

Wright is contracted until the end of 2022 on a deal costing the Suns over $500,000 per season, with Gold Coast keen to shed his financial weight.

The 203cm forward/ruck utility failed to break into the senior squad in 2020 and could be joined by teammate Will Brodie in departing the Suns in the upcoming trade window.

Brodie featured for the Suns on just one occasion this year and is likely to attract plenty of interest from rival clubs.

Speaking on Wright, Edmund said there is some interest from the Bombers.

“It hasn’t been raging interest for him,” he said.

“With Will Brodie as well, the Gold Coast Suns are hoping to move both of those contracted guys on.

“Essendon has an interest, but to what degree I’m not too sure and I’m not sure the Suns know either.

“He fits into that discussion on list sizes – the Bombers have sort of interest there.”

Edmund followed up the report on Trade Radio.

“It was pretty slow early doors, but Essendon have raised their interest. We’ll wait and see if they move for him or not. There is some interest there from the Bombers,” Edmund said.
