Brisbane livewire Charlie Cameron is free to face Geelong on Saturday after reducing his initial one-game suspension into a fine.
Cameron and the Lions challenged the ban that saw the MRO cite a dumping tackle on Melbourne defender Jake Lever at the MCG last week.
It was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact. Lever did play on.
Brisbane was contesting that the impact was 'low' rather than medium, but if failed, would call upon Cameron's exemplary record and character.
According to reports, Cameron and the club failed to overturn the level of impact and turned to use his clean record across his 207-game career as well as a character witness in the form of Adelaide and Carlton champion Eddie Betts and Indigenous Elder Gregory Egert.
Brisbane representative Adrian Anderson referenced three tackles from this season, showing Fremantle's Matthew Johnson on Josh Dunkley, Richmond's Toby Nankervis on Ivan Soldo and Adelaide's Jordan Dawson on Ollie Hollands, which were all deemed low.
Chairman Jeff Gleeson found "exceptional and compelling" circumstances to use its discretion to turn the ban into a fine, citing the small forward's clean record throughout his 207-game career.
Gleeson referenced the discrepancy in weight between Cameron and Lever had to result in a rotating manner to avoid the Lion getting crushed by the Demon.
"His 207 games suspension-free puts him in a very small minority … only 668 players of the 13,125 who have played the game at the elite level have played 200 games," Gleeson said.
"Almost half of those have been suspended for one match or more. Mr Cameron is clearly in the unusual category in this regard."
AFL Counsel Sally Flynn still argued that the potential to cause injury warranted the medium grading but was unsuccessful in her aspirations to penalise the "inherently dangerous" tackle.
Cameron will be able to continue his impressive 123 consecutive-game streak when the Lions host Geelong at the Gabba on Saturday.
The small forward looked back to his best against the Demons, kicking three goals in the significant win.
Cameron's availability will be even more crucial this Saturday as fellow forward Zac Bailey has been sidelined for an extended period.
The club revealed that Bailey will be ruled out for at least a month of football due to a high ankle sprain.
Elsewhere at Springfield, the news was brighter for Conor McKenna, with the former Bomber set to return against Geelong this Saturday night at the Gabba.
