Who deserves to win the Goal of the Year?

The 2024 season had plenty of highlights, with some of the game's great exponents kicking goals that left fans' jaws on the floor.

In years gone by, we've seen long bombs, boundary snaps, quick feet and remarkable athleticism to kick the footy through the big sticks.

However, this year's finalists have channelled their inner Chris Judd, who was known for bursting from inside the stoppage to the 50-metre arc and launching a goal, leaving his opponents in his wake.

Ironically, as Judd did through the early stages of his career, it was two of the brightest stars in the competition that got the nod as a potential Goal of the Year winner.

West Coast's Harley Reid and Collingwood's Nick Daicos are the 2024 Goal of the Year finalists.

Daicos - like his famous father and brother - is uncanny with his freakish ability and silky skillset with ball in hand.

In Rounds 16 (Gold Coast) and 23 (Brisbane), the 21-year-old can be seen bursting away from his opponents before finishing his hard work.

If Nick were to win this year's award, he'd join his father (Peter - 1991 winner) and brother (Josh - 2020 winner) as recipient's of the coveted prize.

As for Reid, his efforts were equally as special, getting the nod as a Goal of the Year finalist in just his 9th AFL game.

The Eagles wunderkind has already made a mark on the competition, with his trademark 'fend-off' that was seen against Melbourne in Round 10.

West Coast fans were given a flashback to a former No.9 in the jumper, as Reid's goal ran parallel to Ben Cousins' endeavours from yesteryear.

The 2024 NAB AFL Goal of the Year winner will receive $50,000 and NAB will donate a further $10,000 to the winning players' junior footy club.

Voting is now open, with the overall winner determined by a combination of votes from the AFL All-Australian Panel and the public.

The winner will be announced at the 2024 Brownlow Medal on Monday, September 23.

Everyone who votes for their favourite goal also has a chance to win $5,000 thanks to NAB.
