The 2025 AFLW season will kick off the week beginning August 11 next year, two weeks earlier than in season 2024.
The league has also elected to scrap the controversial condensed fixture that saw teams play throughout the week.
These fixturing adjustments mean that the commencement of games will coincide with the final rounds of the AFL season, with games overlapping from Round 23 onwards, opening the competition up for more double headers.
The AFLW home and away season will consist of 12 rounds over 12 weeks, with four weeks of finals action.
Pre-season for the upcoming AFLW season has also been confirmed, with clubs set to hit the track on Monday, May 19th.
AFLW General Manager Emma Moore said that it was important to provide certainty for clubs, players and fans.
“We are pleased to be able to confirm the season structure for the 2025 NAB AFLW season and wanted to provide these dates earlier than ever before, giving our clubs, players and fans stability and time to plan leading into next season,” she said.
“Work will continue on the fixture for 2025 following the completion of this season and we will have further information to share in the coming months.
“There are an exciting two weeks left of the 2024 NAB AFLW Finals Series, as the race for the Premiership comes down to four teams all vying for the flag.”
The AFLW Grand Final is set for Saturday, November 30. Meanwhile, two preliminary finals will decide the remaining spots when North Melbourne take on Port Adelaide and Brisbane face Adelaide.
