Port Adelaide's All-Australian key back Aliir Aliir will remain at the Power until the end of 2026 after signing a two-year extension with the club.
The news comes after Port Adelaide's comfortable win over Richmond, where Aliir helped keep Noah Balta and Tom Lynch quiet with just two goals between them.
Debuting in 2016 for Sydney, Aliir developed into one of the most high-profile intercepters in the league after his move to Port Adelaide in 2021, where he broke out with an All-Australian campaign.
Now 29, he has been the Power's number one man down back for over three years, and the club has since surrounded him with key defensive help in Esava Ratugolea and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher.
โI'm excited to sign on with Port Adelaide for another two years,โ Aliir said.ย
โI feel like I've played some of my best football at this club and there's nowhere else I'd rather be. The culture we have built here is something special and I'm excited to see where this group can go.ย
โI'm also loving working with a new-look backline and I'm feel refreshed and energised for the year ahead.โย
Aliir will be cheerfully celebrated this Saturday night during Port Adelaide's home clash against Melbourne, being a fan-favourite responsible for some fond memories for the Power faithful, including his goal-line spoil to save an SCG thriller against Sydney last season.
List manager Jason Cripps made his excitement known after securing Aliir's signature.
โOver the last three seasons, Aliir has proven to be an important asset to our defensive unit and our club as a whole,โ he said.ย
โHe has speed, strength and is excellent at reading the play. Not only is he a great player, he's someone a lot of our younger players look up to. He adds so much to the playing group, both as a footballer and as a person.โย
Port Adelaide are looking to go 3-0 with a win this Saturday against a depleted Melbourne defence at the Adelaide Oval.
