Port Adelaide assistant coach Josh Carr has pledged his allegiance to Port Adelaide amid expected interest from West Coast.

Carr has been one of several names raised as ideal candidates for the vacant Eagles position, with the race wide open following Sydney assistant and West Coast great Dean Cox's decision to turn down a move back to Perth.

Fellow ex-Eagles Jaymie Graham and Ash Hansen have also been tied to West Coast as they search for Adam Simpson's successor, with Carr also linked to a potential move back to WA.

The former Fremantle assistant has often been discussed as Port Adelaide's next coach once Ken Hinkley departs, but it won't stop other clubs from at least asking the question of his services given how highly he is rated across the competition.

But with a preference to remain in South Australia for the time being, Carr has shot down any chance of a move to West Coast ahead of the 2025 season.

"No, not at all," Carr said, speaking to media.

"I've been really clear from probably this time last year that I'm here to stay in Adelaide and not moving away from Adelaide any time soon.

"Everyone's settled. I've moved a few times over the last few years and I'm fully entrenched at Port."

Carr had been tied to Richmond's vacancy last year before deciding against pushing for the role, which ended with the appointment of Adem Yze.

The decisions from both Carr and Cox have likely left the Power no closer to finding their next senior coach, with Hinkley's name even raised as a potential candidate on Monday.

Brisbane football boss Danny Daly and former Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew have also been linked to the vacancy.

Carlton assistant Hansen looms as an ideal fit for the rebuilding Eagles, while Graham is also well suited and familiar with the club given his previous role as assistant to Simpson.

Caretaker coach Jarrad Schofield may also be considered, however his short time in the hot seat has beared little fruit from an on-field standpoint.
