Richmond has provided a further injury update ahead of their Round 1 clash with Carlton on Thursday, revealing that midfielder Kamdyn McIntosh has been ruled out of the Tigers' season opener with calf soreness.

Richmond Physical performance manager Peter Burge revealed on Tuesday that Kamdyn "pulled up with a sore calf, and it's taken a little bit longer to recover than we would have anticipated" from the Tigers' AAMI Community Series clash with Hawthorn.

"If the game had been a couple of days later on the weekend, he probably would have been available, but like with most soft tissue injuries, we'd prefer to take the week to make sure he's absolutely right for Round 2," Burge said.

This news is adding to Richmond's existing injury headaches, with defender Nick Vlaustin unavailable for the opening rounds and Dylan Grimes still uncertain to play against the Blues with hamstring and thumb injuries respectively.

On a more positive note, midfielder Jack Graham will play on Thursday after an inconsistent pre-season battling hamstring injuries.

"The last two weeks have been really good. During his rehab process prior to that, he'd done a heap of running, covered a heap of distance, a heap of high-speed running, so his conditioning base is really good and the last two weeks he's been able to participate in skills." Burge added.

"He's a little bit ahead of schedule and he's available for selection this week."

The Tigers have confirmed that young defender Josh Gibcus will make his debut against Carlton, while ruckman Toby Nankervis should be available for the match despite recently requiring to undergo the AFL's health and safety protocols.

The Tigers will meet the Blues at the MCG on Thursday 17 March at 7:20 pm.
