Delisted Brisbane ruckman Kalin Lane has returned to his old WAFL club Claremont for the 2025 season.

Lane departed the Lions after three-and-a-half seasons with the club, which he played 52 VFL games for as a project key position talent.

The 205cm ruckman did not break through for an AFL debut during his time in Queensland, as he was often placed behind Oscar McInerney and Darcy Fort in Brisbane's selection pecking order.

The burgeoning ruckman played 12 VFL games in 2024, averaging 8.5 disposals, 11.6 hitouts and 1.7 tackles per outing.

Lane was recruited to the Lions out of Claremont via the 2021 Mid-Season Draft as the 14th overall pick, fetching interest from Brisbane after being overlooked for the AFL Draft the year prior.

The 23-year-old played for the Tigers' WAFL reserves before being signed by the AFL side midway through the 2021 campaign.

Having been delisted by the Lions this off-season, Lane has ventured back to Western Australia to return to Claremont for the coming season.

The club announced the signing of Lane in recent days as the Tigers add to their off-season haul that includes former Essendon forward Jaiden Hunter.

Claremont recorded 11 wins in 18 home and away matches in the WAFL this year before exiting the finals race at the hands of eventual premiers Peel Thunder in week two of the finals.
