Former Melbourne forward Josh Schache has continued his football career beyond the AFL, recently signing with Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL) club Doncaster East.

Schache played 76 games across nine seasons after being taken with Pick 2 in the 2015 National Draft.

Starting his career at Brisbane, the left-footer requested a move after two seasons and 27 matches at the Queensland club.

The Western Bulldogs snapped him up, playing an integral role in the club's impressive 2021 finals run that resulted in a grand final loss to Melbourne.

Ironically, 12 months later, Schache would end up on the Demons' list ahead of the 2023 season.

However, his time at Melbourne wasn't as prosperous, featuring a measly four times before being delisted by the club a month ago.

Doncaster announced the news of its new signing on Monday, expressing their excitement of signing the key forward.

Doncaster is in the premier division of the EFNL and struggled to make a meaningful impact in 2024, finishing eighth after five wins.

Schache will join former AFL-listed players Tom Bell (Brisbane/Carlton), Tim O'Brien (Hawthorn/Western Bulldogs), Taylin Duman (Fremantle) and Josh Deluca (Fremantle/Carlton) at the club.
