Optus Stadium has taken the crown as the Best AFL Stadium as well as the top spot for Australia's Best Stadium for 2021.
Optus Stadium was voted by fans as the number one sporting venue of 2021, receiving 29% of the total votes in the 2021 Stadium Awards.
The home of the 2021 AFL Grand Final took out the award for Best AFL Stadium with 37% of votes. The excellent atmosphere and spectacle of the Grand Final and Dream Time matches were two of the premier AFL experiences held at the venue.
This is the second consecutive time that the stadium has won the award, also taking home the honours in 2019.
Due to COVID interruptions, the Stadium Awards weren't voted in 2020.
Closely behind Optus Stadium was the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was awarded second in both the Best Stadium and AFL Stadium of the Year. With 21% of the votes in the Best and 36% (only 1% behind) in the AFL Stadium, the MCG remains one of the country's premier venues.
The MCG was voted as the Best Cricket Ground for 2021 with 27% of the votes, compared to Optus Stadium, which received 25%.
The next best performing AFL venue was Adelaide Oval, which finished in the top five in Australia's Best Stadium. It was also voted as the third-best AFL venue in the awards.
The voting commenced late in December with valid entries open between the 21st and the 30th of that month.
The Award winners were announced on the 12th of January.
Other notable winners were Suncorp Stadium winning Best NRL Stadium, AAMI Park winning Best A-League Stadium, Queensland Country Bank Stadium winning Best Regional Stadium and Rod Laver Arena winning Best Indoor Arena.
