Star forward Eddie Betts is unlikely to return to the Crows in 2020 and will be placed on the trade table according to SEN's Sam McClure.

Previously, FIVEaa's Stephen Rowe reported on Wednesday that Betts had played "his last game at the Adelaide Footy Club", after the small forward conducted his exit meetings with the Crows.

Speculation had mounted that Betts had been delisted based on these comments, however, SEN Sportsday's Tom Morris believes this is not the case.

Instead, McClure believes that fan favourite Betts will likely seek a move away from the Crows in the upcoming trade period.

“I’ve spoken to Adelaide, I’ve spoken to his (Betts’) management,” McClure told SEN’s Time On.

“Now, neither of them are willing to confirm or deny the story but fair to say neither of them are willing to go on the record completely denying it.

"So with a year left on his deal, you would think, given Rowey’s (Rowe's) mail, that he (Betts) potentially is going to be asking for a trade.

"If Eddie Betts is leaving the Adelaide Crows, with any sort of disenchantment, then it’s really the beginning of a player exodus for this club and it would be sad."

The 32-year-old small forward kicked 37 goals this season for the Crows, bringing up his 300th game against the Gold Coast Suns earlier in the year in what was ultimately a season of failure for the club.

Betts was dropped prior to Adelaide's clash with Carlton late in the season, however few expected Betts to be shown the exit door at the club.

McClure reports that having spoken to both the Crows and Betts' management, both parties declined to comment.

"Now, neither of them are willing to confirm or deny the story but fair to say neither of them are willing to go on the record completely denying it," said McClure.

"So let’s hope the report is wrong but knowing Rowey as I do, and knowing how often he is right, and very, very rarely wrong, there will be substance to it."
