The Crows' spiralling season has gone from bad to worse this week - the struggling Adelaide side has just lost superstar small forward Eddie Betts for a month due to injury.
Saturday night's 56-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG saw Betts cop his second hamstring injury of the season, falling victim to the Crows' injury curse once again.
Only a season removed from being runners-up, the Crows are quickly becoming doubtful of making this year's finals following four consecutive losses.
Adelaide Head of Football Brett Burton confirmed to the club Betts' rehabilitation period will begin immediately, ruling out play for four weeks.
“Eddie has suffered a slight strain to the tendon which equates to a recovery period of approximately four weeks,” Burton told afc.com.au.
“Obviously it is disappointing to be missing a player of his ability but it creates an opportunity for others to step up and perform.”
Adding insult to injury in more bad news for Adelaide, ruckman Reilly O'Brien is set to undergo shoulder surgery later this week, sidelining him for the rest of the season.
“Reilly has been battling a shoulder problem for some time but it has reached a point where he is no longer able to back up from week to week and reconstructive surgery is the best option," Burton said.
From grand-finalists last season to cursed with injuries, it's unclear whether the Crows will pull through without Betts.
