Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli is expected to make the trip to Darwin to face the Suns on Saturday night despite a knee knock sustained in Round 10.
Bontempelli required medical treatment during the third quarter of last Saturday's 45-point win over the Crows, sparking fears among the Bulldogs camp before the premiership midfielder continued to play out the contest.
Fellow league stars Clayton Oliver and Josh Kelly played through hamstring concerns during the most recent round before being confirmed for sideline stints, while Bontempelli's knee concern looks unlikely to force the 27-year-old to the sidelines.
Dogs coach Luke Beveridge confirmed his skipper is likely to line up against the Suns this weekend, but will be monitored over the coming days at training.
Beveridge will be forced into at least one change from their convincing win over the Crows after the club confirmed a lengthy setback for dasher Jason Johannisen, who suffered a high-grade hamstring strain in the victory.
The Dogs are unlikely to welcome back either Adam Treloar (hamstring) or Josh Bruce (ribs) for their trip to the Northern Territory, despite the latter being available for training. Bruce could make his return through the VFL when Footscray face the Suns' reserves at TIO Stadium hours before the AFL headliner.
Defender Hayden Crozier could be relied on to fill Johannisen's shoes, while fringe utility Liatham Vandermeer will be in consideration after being trialled in a similar role in the VFL two weeks ago.
Beveridge flagged he may look to move Caleb Daniel back to defence despite a promising opening half of the year in midfield, having aided the workload in the middle due to the absences of Treloar and Bailey Smith.
Daniel recorded a season-high 30 disposals against the Crows to add poise and efficiency to Beveridge's midfield group.
The Dogs will go toe-to-toe with Gold Coast at TIO Stadium at 6:55pm local time as they search for their sixth straight win.
