Both Carlton and Collingwood will head west to face Fremantle and West Coast respectively this weekend after the league saw fit to alter the Round 6 fixture for the 2022 AFLW season.

While Western Australia's border remains under lock and key for the vast majority of citizens, Sarah Black of AFL Media has reported the Blues and Magpies will cross the Nullarbor under 'fly in, fly out' conditions routinely adhered to by members of the mining industry.

Both clubs will also be required to stick to strict protocols drawn up by the Mark McGowan-led government.

Collingwood was originally scheduled to face West Coast at Victoria Park on Saturday night, however, with the Eagles subjected to four-straight contests in Melbourne since the season's opening week, an alteratins was made on grounds of compassion and fairness.

The dual clashes set to take place at Fremantle Oval and Mineral Resources Park will mark the first AFLW contests held in the state since January 8.

They will also represent the first time an intestate side has played for points in Perth since March 28, 2021.

Given the shift across time zones, a raft of other fixturing updates have been made, with the Suns' and Cats' clash moved from both Sunday to Friday and from Metricon Stadium to Fankhauser Reserve in Labrador.

Melbourne and GWS will also do battle on Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday, and the cellar-dwelling Saints' contest against the Lions will shift from Friday night to Sunday afternoon whilst still remaining at Trevor Barker Beach Oval in Sandringham.

Richmond and North Melbourne's Saturday afternoon stand-off has also been moved forward an hour to take place at 2:10pm AEDT, as has the Dockers' and Blues' battle to 3:10pm WST on the same day.

The ladder-leading Crows will still play host to Nathan Burke's Bulldogs this Sunday at Norwood Oval, however, the first bounce will now take place two hours after was originally scheduled, with the ball to go up at 4:40pm ACDT.
