Carlton have confirmed their interest in Power co-captain Ollie Wines should he become available, also revealing that his name did come up in trade discussions.
It comes after SEN's Sam Edmund reported that Wines' camp approached the Blues about the potential of brokering a trade for him.
Carlton list boss Stephen Silvagni admitted that Wines is of interest to the club moving forward.
“Ollie’s name came up, but he was never put on the table and so it was something that was blown out of proportion a little bit,” Silvagni told SEN Breakfast.
“To be fair to Port Adelaide and Ollie he’s obviously a Port Adelaide player and a really good one.
“If he did become available in the next year or two, we would be sitting down to have discussions with Ollie.”
Silvagni was not willing to discuss whether or not the Blues could've fit Wines in their salary cap for next season.
“We’re dealing with hypotheticals here and I’m not prepared to talk about Ollie when the (trade) period is done and he is contracted to Port Adelaide,” he said.
Ultimately, Carlton walked away from the trade period with the additions of Eddie Betts and Marc Pittonet and missed out on Tom Papley and Jack Martin.
