Carlton, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs have committed to selecting a talented quartet of names that were tied to them via their Next Generation Academies.
Each of Domanic Akuei, Jack Peris, Josiah Kyle and Cody Raak had their dreams realised when they were alerted by either the Blues, Saints and Bulldogs' list management teams that their footballing fates had been secured via pre-selection.
Akuei has made history with Carlton by becoming the first product of their internal program to graduate onto the club's roster.
The high-jumping utility of Sudanese heritage will now call Princes Park home in 2022 after securing a place as a Category B Rookie.
Carlton's Head of List Management Nick Austin couldn't hide his joy when announcing that the 19-year-old would soon commence training under head coach Michael Voss.
“To be able to officially welcome Dom to our ranks is a significant moment for our football club, as our first recruit coming from our Next Generation Academy,” Austin said.
Akuei's vertical leap shown during his stints with the Northern Knights and Vic Metro were seen as his major weapon ahead of what could lead to a career as an intercept defender.
“Dom is someone who has come on in leaps and bounds in recent seasons and he’s obviously someone we’ve been keeping our eye on for a while," Austin continued.
"He’s got great judgment in the air, he reads the play well and he can play multiple roles, particularly down back but also in the ruck if the situation presents."
At Moorabbin, new recruit Peris - the son of former Olympian Nova Peris - was said to have had aims of competing at the recent Tokyo games before being hamstrung throughout the year.
The Sandringham Dragon is said to offer Brett Ratten plenty of pace on a wing and will be seen as a complementary selection to pick 11 in the 2021 AFL Draft, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.
Fellow Cat B Saint Kyle proved to be an attacking threat for Dandenong across the most recent NAB League season by slotting majors in six of his seven starts for the Stingrays.
Like Austin on Royal Parade, St Kilda's list boss James Gallagher was equally as ecstatic south of Melbourne's CBD.
“We’re proud to welcome Jack and Josiah to St Kilda,” Gallagher told saints.com.au.
"Jack may be small in stature, but he has the capacity to pack a punch through all areas of the ground. He’s determined and competitive in his approach and his athleticism is a clear strength of his.
"Josiah has plenty of promising traits as a mid-sized forward. He has genuine speed, a great leap and good goal sense. Josiah’s development will be a focus for him in joining the club and we look forward to seeing him grow in 2022."
The selections of Peris, Kyle, Wanganeen-Milera and yet another NGA Saint in Marcus Windhager now sees eight Indigenous talents call Moorabbin home - a far cry from the total lack of representation during the 2015 season.
Across the Westgate at the Whitten Oval, Raak rounded out the collection of pre-selected teenagers.
The Western Jets product made three appearances in the VFL last season and found the Sherrin at an average of 20 times per contest.
At 191cms, Raak will offer both Luke Beveridge and Footscray's VFL coach, Stewart Edge, plenty of options around the park next season.
Each of these four names will commence their first pre-seasons when they join their respective clubs in the coming days.
