There are multiple fresh updates on Carlton's player movement front, with a forward reportedly in the midst of talks over a new contract, while a forgotten wingman is considered a likely chance of farewelling Princes Park.
The Blues' list management concerns are firmly in the back of their minds at present, as the club prepares to attack its first finals campaign since 2013; starting on Friday night at the MCG when the Blues tackle the Swans in a blockbuster elimination final.
However, Carlton's 2024 list construction will become a forefront focus soon enough, with multiple pertinent updates coming to light on Thursday morning.
Father-son goalkicker Jack Silvagni is participating in ongoing talks with Carlton's hierarchy over a contract extension, according to journalist Cal Twomey via SEN, with a multi-year arrangement understood to be centric to current discussions.
"Jack Silvagni, he's been offered a deal to stay at Carlton. Those negotiations are now in full swing, he's an unrestricted free agent but has a multi-year deal on the table from the Blues," Twomey said on Thursday morning.
After it seemed uncertain whether or not Silvagni would remain on Royal Parade beyond this year due to his unsigned status, the only apparent question now revolves around how many more years the forward will be tied to the Blues.
On the other hand, wingman Lochie O'Brien will reportedly explore more fruitful senior opportunities away from Princes Park next season, according to a News Corp report.
O'Brien played 19 games last season in something of a career resurgence, however, come this season the wingman hasn't been anywhere near as favoured by Michael Voss and his selection committee, managing just six games at AFL level as Carlton stormed towards September qualification.
While the 23-year-old is contracted through next season, the running Blue is considered likely to depart the club that drafted him with the No. 10 overall selection in 2017.
Off-contract midfielder Paddy Dow is another Blue whose Carlton future appears cloudy as the off-season prepares to kick off.
This year's trade period commences on October 9.
