Carlton will be without Zac Williams and Eddie Betts this weekend while Coleman Medal leader Harry McKay remains an "outside chance" to play.

Williams suffered a low grade hamstring injury in he Blues humiliating loss to North Melbourne and will miss 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile, Betts' ankle issue will see him sit out the next 1-2 games.

Betts currently sit on 347 games and is without a deal for 2022 despite playing some very good football this year.

McKay missed last weekend with a toe issue and Carlton Director of High Performance Andrew Russell says the key forward may return this week.

"Harry injured that toe versus Collingwood and was a bit slower than what we thought last week," Russell told the club website.

"It’s starting to settle down now and he’s an outside chance to be playing this weekend."

Russell went on to say that Betts and Williams will likely be seen again before the end of the season.

"Eddie’s ankle, he was sore initially but actually settled down pretty well," Russell said.

"He was a bit restricted during the game but has pulled up pretty sore and swollen. We certainly won’t see Eddie for the next week or two.

"Zac Williams injured his hamstring on the weekend, just before half time.

"It’s a pretty low-grade hamstring and we expect him to miss two or three games, so we’re a good chance to see him right at the back-end of the season again."

Charlie Curnow and Mitch McGovern could be in-line to return to a well undersized Carlton forward line with Curnow now playing two scratch matches as he embarks on an epic return.

Curnow hasn't played an AFL game in over two years due to a series of knee injuries.

Russell says that Curnow is coming along well and progressing towards an AFL return.

"Charlie played his second game. He had an increase in game minutes and we were pleased with the way he moved and more pleased with the way he has pulled up," Russell said.

"His knee is great. He’s progressing really, really well.

"‘Gov’ (McGovern) has had a really good block in the last month. We’re really pleased that we’re going to see him playing some footy this week."
