Essendon has not offered key forward Sam Weideman a contract for 2025, joining the likes of Nick Hind, Tex Wanganeen and Kaine Baldwin.
Weideman joined the club ahead of the 2023 AFL season, crossing from Melbourne, where he played 59 games across seven campaigns.
The Bombers recognised his talent in the front half, and the 27-year-old was a significant contributor last year, featuring in 16 matches as a staple up forward.
However, following the drafting of Nate Caddy and the emergence of Harrison Jones and Nik Cox as forward options, Weideman failed to make a meaningful impact at the elite level, toiling away for the majority of the year in the VFL.
Essendon AFL Talent and Operations Manager Matt Rosa thanked Weideman for his services.

It is understood that the Bombers will allow recently delisted defender Kaine Baldwin to train on with the club over the summer, potentially eyeing a pre-season supplemental spot.
