Essendon midfielder Andrew McGrath's season may just about be over after it was confirmed he will miss 8-12 weeks with a PCL injury.
McGrath hobbled off during the Bombers loss to the Tigers last Saturday night and was substituted out of the game and put into a knee brace.
Essendon GM of Football Josh Mahoney said that the injury to McGrath was a blow to the 23-year-old who had been terrific this season.
“We are really disappointed for Andy (McGrath) who was putting together a consistent season to date as part of our midfield group,” Mahoney said in a statement.
“Andy is a true professional who will be very driven to see a return to play as soon as possible. We know he will attack his rehabilitation program and continue to contribute to the team while not playing.”
The Bombers are already without Dylan Shiel, Devon Smith, Jye Caldwell and Sam Draper from their midfield group. While defender Michael Hurley won't be seen this season.
