Essendon has reportedly extended midfielder Will Setterfield's time at the club by one more year, signing a deal for 2025.
Setterfield joined the Bombers ahead of the 2023 season, crossing from Carlton after falling out of favour in the midfield.
The former Pick 5 featured in 10 games and was a significant contributor early in the year before injury and a form slump struck.
However, Setterfield's VFL form has been impressive and is proven as a strong depth option for Brad Scott.
โI'm grateful for the opportunity to play for Essendon and I'm pumped to have signed on for next year,โ Setterfield said.
โI've loved my two seasons at the Bombers so far and I can't wait to get to work over the summer ahead of the 2025 season. We've got a great group of driven and determined players and I can't wait to see what we can achieve together.โ
GM โ AFL Daniel McPherson is confident in what Setterfield can bring to the Dons' midfield with a clean run in 2025.
โWe are pleased to have Will on board for another year. He is a respected member of our playing group, a strong cultural driver, and is an important part of our midfield mix,โ McPherson said.
โUnfortunately Will has been restricted due to injury over the past two seasons so we hope he can get his body right, have a full pre-season and get back to playing the strong AFL football we know he is capable of.โ
The Bombers have been relatively quiet throughout the trade period, dealing only with the Giants as Jake Stringer weighs up his future.
Essendon list manager Matt Rosa has made the club's objective known of ensuring NGA prospect Isaac Kako joins the club through securing enough draft capital.
The Bombers hold picks 28, 31, 40, 46, 54, 65 in next month's draft.
Sam Weideman and Jayden Davey are without a deal for 2025.
