Former North Melbourne fitness boss Jona Segal has joined Essendon as part of their strength and conditioning team as the Bombers continue to ring the changes this off-season.
In further signs of change at Tullamarine, the club is continuing to make off-field changes, as well as heavily recruiting for on the field as well. The moves come as the club looks to support Brad Scott following a solid first season at the helm.
Segal was at North between 2000-21, including serving as the high-performance boss from 2017 to 2020, and was at the club for the entirety of Brad Scott's tenure there as coach, working in a number of other roles such as dietician and strength and conditioning coach as well.
Following the Bombers losing strength and conditioning coach Conor Daly, who has taken a role with the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA, Segal joins the high-performance team in a part-time role.
It's just the latest change to the football department following Daniel McPherson replacing Josh Mahoney after he left to take a role at the AFL, while Matt Rosa has joined as the new talent and operations manager.
Other changes have seen David Rath become the coaching innovation and game strategy manager and Ben Robbins the head of psychology and wellbeing.
While on the field, the Bombers have recruited Ben McKay, Jade Gresham, Xavier Duursma, and Todd Goldstein to add depth, height, and a bit of x-factor as they look to push for finals next year.
