Essendon forward Kaine Baldwin has signed a one-year contract extension to remain in Bombers colours through the 2023 season.

The 20-year-old Baldwin showed positive flashes throughout the 2022 season after arriving at The Hangar in 2021 as a Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period pickup, kicking two goals and taking nine marks across four senior appearances, as well as snagging 24 goals from just 11 VFL outings.

The Glenelg product expressed his appreciation for Essendon's faith in him and laid out his pre-season plans for development.

"I'm so excited to remain in the red and black. The club has been huge in my development and I've loved the opportunity to play at AFL level this year," Baldwin told essendonfc.com.au.

"The club continues to put great faith in me, which I am extremely thankful for. I'm looking forward to the pre-season to make some big improvements and work closely with our leaders in our forward line."

Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro echoed Baldwin's sentiments and praised the youngster's resilience in response to multiple injury setbacks.

"We are really happy to have Kaine commit to the club for next year," Dodoro said.

"It was fantastic to see him at AFL level this year and playing consistent football after suffering multiple (ACL) injuries.

"At only 20 years old, Kaine has a lot of potential and I look forward to watching his development and journey continue."
