Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli has singled out three teammates who he believes could be in for a big 2019 campaign.
Bontempelli has selected players at different stages of their career, with a debutant, a young gun and an experienced utility tipped to help the Dogs this season.
“You’ve got Bailey Smith who’s obviously a Round 1 debutant which is a great testament to him and the work the football club has done,” Bontempelli told SEN’s Time On.
“His ability to just be a pro and commit to everything from day one, that’s a great one.
“Sammy Lloyd is an older one who we got through the trade period who has just looked right at home.
“It was a great pick-up for us and we’ve already been able to see a little bit of his influence throughout the JLT Series.
“He’s been a great addition for us from a footy point of view, but also can spend some time in the midfield.
“Tim English is the other one who’s now spent a couple of years at the football club and he’s just been growing year on year with size and his ability to play and still cover ground quite well.
“He’ll be one to watch over the next couple of months particularly as he gets more and more comfortable in the league and within his own body.”
Smith is preparing for his first game this weekend, while English has nine games to his name over the past two seasons.
Lloyd joined from Richmond during the trade period, after 57 games for the Tigers over five years.
The Dogs kick off their season against Sydney at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
