Gary Ablett may have played his last game for the Gold Coast Suns, with the two-time Brownlow Medalist withdrawing from the side's line-up to face Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Ablett was initially included in the Suns' Round 23 team when squads were announced on Thursday evening at 5pm.

However, just a few hours later, Ablett has withdrawn from the team due to hamstring tightness after failing a fitness test.

"Gaz gave himself the best opportunity to play this weekend," Suns' football manager Marcus Ashcroft said.

"But unfortunately at training this evening he simply could not reach the speed required to be passed fit to play this weekend."

Ablett has now missed seven of the past 10 matches and despite being contracted for 2018, is no certainty to take to the field wearing a Gold Coast guernsey ever again, with reports that he will return to Geelong next season.

Jack Bowes has also been withdrawn from the team, with Mitch Hallanhan and Brad Scheer coming into the side.

Alex Sexton has come into the 25 as an emergency.

The Power host the Suns at Adelaide Oval at 7.40pm on Saturday night.
