Carlton veteran Eddie Betts has announced his retirement from the game, with this weekend's match being his 350th and final match in the AFL.

Betts has amassed a decorated career that spans across two spells with the Blues and six years with the Adelaide Crows.

The 32-year-old has booted 638 goals in his 17-year career, being one of only three players to have booted 300+ goals for two separate clubs in the game's history.

Betts joined the Blues via the 2004 Pre-Season Draft with the third overall selection and has grown into one of the game's most cherished names.

Speaking on the announcement, Betts expressed his gratitude to be surrounded by those that mean so much to him.

β€œTo my family, my former and current teammates, coaches and staff at both Carlton and Adelaide and to the members and fans of both clubs, thank you for your support,” Betts said.

β€œIt’s been an honour to run around the footy field for 17 seasons. I’ve had an unbelievable career and I’ve enjoyed every minute playing the game that I love and sharing it with so many along the way. I feel very fortunate to have been able to give it my all, both at Carlton and at Adelaide.”

Betts continued his farewell messages via Instagram, in a heartwarming and passionate post about his career.

Betts is set to line up for the Blues this weekend against Greater Western Sydney in what will be his 350th and final match in the league.

The electrifying forward ends his career as a three-time All-Australian, six-time club leading goal-kicker, Carlton Best and Fairest winner and four-time Goal of the Year winner.
