The 21-year-old played 20 games in 2017, including the Grand Final, taking his career tally to 56 games in three seasons. He was recruited with pick No.14 from the Calder Cannons in the 2014 National Draft.
The first official trade of this year's trade period has been completed, with Melbourne and Adelaide agreeing to terms to send Jake Lever to the Demons.
The deal will see Melbourne send this year’s No.10 draft pick, as well as two future picks, a first round selection and fourth round selection in 2018 to Adelaide.
In return, Melbourne receive Lever, pick No.35 in this year’s draft and a future third round pick for 2018.
"We’re very happy to complete the deal today with the Adelaide Crows to secure Jake Lever," Melbourne General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney said.
"Jake has been a player we’ve targeted as a priority during this trade period and this is a great outcome for us.
"Jake will have an immediate impact on our group – on field as an important member of our defence, but also off the field with his professionalism and competitiveness.
“With 56 games to his name, we see Jake as a long-term player at the Melbourne footy club.”
Lever will reportedly join the club on a four-year deal worth close to $4 million.
