Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield's hopes of winning back to back Brownlow medals appear over, after receiving a one-game ban for rough conduct on Carlton ruckman, Matthew Kreuzer.

Kreuzer was left concussed and he was unable to return to the field for the remainder of the match after a Dangerfield tackle in which the Blues' big man's head cannoned into the ground.

Dangerfield had Kreuzer's arm pinned as his head hit the Etihad stadium turf in the third term.

He risks missing a second week if he challenges and fails in his appeal.

The Cats face the Swans at Simonds Stadium in a crucial clash this Friday night.

"Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head," the MRP said in its statement on the incident.

Meanwhile, three other charges have also been laid from Round 19.

Luke Hodge can accept a one-game ban for striking Tom Papley, for his third offence in one season.

Lance Franklin can accept a $1500 sanction for unnecessary contact to Luke Hodge's face.

Taylor Adams can accept a $1000 sanction, rough conduct on Rory Laird.
