Sydney has released the following statement regarding an incident in a Sydney venue involving Kangaroos forward Taylor Garner.

The Swans have confirmed forward Isaac Heeney was at the same venue as Garner at the time of the incident, and saw what transpired, offering assistance to the victim.

The club released the following statement on their website.

The Sydney Swans are aware that an altercation at a Sydney nightspot over the weekend, allegedly involving North Melbourne player Taylor Garner, was witnessed by one of our players.

Garner was staying with former teammate Ryan Clarke, who had left the venue and headed home before the incident occurred.

Isaac Heeney was at the same venue with friends and witnessed the incident.

Sydney Swans Head of Football Charlie Gardiner said Heeney assisted the alleged victim.

“Both Isaac and Ryan kept the club fully informed about what occurred over the weekend,” Gardiner said.

“Isaac should be commended for diffusing the situation and offering support to the other party.

“As this matter is still being investigated, we are unable to make further comment.”
