Former Crows captain Taylor Walker has been subbed out of his side's clash with Brisbane at the Adelaide Oval after being taken from the ground following a sickening head clash.

Walker, who has been enjoying a sterling season, collided with Lion Daniel Rich's hip after following the ball out from forward 50.

The incident took place when Walker's Crows trailed the Lions by just three-points half way through the second-quarter.

Although the game is being covered by the Fox Footy broadcast team, Channel Seven commentator Jason Bennett likened the clash to the one that rendered Footscray's Neil Sachse a quadriplegic in Round 2 of 1975.

In what first appeared to be an equally devastating blow for Brisbane, skipper Harris Andrews was also forced from the field with what looked to be a knee injury.

However, Lions head coach Chris Fagan confirmed that Andrews would return for the second-half.

Walker was removed from the game with what has since been described as a neck strain.

The Crows medical sub Jackson Hately has been enacted.

At the time of writing, Brisbane leads Adelaide by 8-points at half-time.
