Brisbane Lions skipper Dayne Zorko has been ruled out of Saturday's top of the table clash with Port Adelaide due to a calf injury and could miss multiple games.
In a statement released to the club website, Lions high performance manager Damien Austin revealed scans have revealed Zorko has a minor calf strain.
Zorko overcame a similar injury to return to the side for last Sunday's win against the Crows but failed to finish the game.
“It will be two or three weeks,’’ Austin said.
“Hopefully we’ll get him back soon as there’s not too much damage there.
“It was disappointing throughout the game, but he did all the training and hit all the measures that we needed him too to tick the boxes.’’
The Lions could potentially receive a boost however, with Austin stating veteran ruckman Stefan Martin is a chance to face the Power. Dayne
“He had a bigger session today and a big session on Saturday,’’ he said.
“So hopefully we’ll get him up to speed to sprint on Thursday and do a full training session and hopefully he is available.’’
In other injury news, gun Hawk Luke Breust is set to miss a month after suffering a small fracture in his jaw against North Melbourne.
“Luke got a knock to the jaw on the weekend whilst laying a tackle,” Hawks physical performance manager Luke Boyd told the club website.
“At the time he was a little bit sore but he managed to play out the game.
“He woke up on Monday morning though and he was quite sore through there so we got the area scanned.
“What that‘s shown is a small fracture through his jaw so he will have surgery on that in the next 24 hours and he will miss a few weeks of football.”
