Brisbane confirm two Lions seeking trade

The Brisbane Lions have confirmed that two players are seeking trades in the upcoming AFLW Trade period, with Jesse Wardlaw and Lulu Pullar set to depart the club.

Brisbane confirmed Wardlaw and Pullar's intentions in a statement on Thursday, with speculation mounting that Wardlaw will move south to Moorabbin to join St Kilda.

The 23-year-old had a stellar 2022, winning the AFLW Leading Goalkicker Award in Season Seven, kicking 22 goals from 12 games.

Pullar meanwhile, played 14 games across both seasons in the calendar 2022 year after being drafted by the Lions in 2021. The young defender earned the Best First Year player award in her debut campaign, is is looming as a likely inclusion at Arden Street, per womens.afl.

The Lions have already had a busy month, with both Greta Bodey and Emily Bates departing the club for Hawthorn in the Priority Signing Period.

Speaking via a club statement Lions Head of Women's Football, Breeanna Brock, thanked the duo for their time at the club.

“Jesse has been a very valued member of the Brisbane Lions, coming up through the ranks via our Academy. She will always have a place here at Brisbane,” Brock said.

 “As a home-grown talent, we would have loved Jesse to remain with the Lions.

“On behalf of everyone at Brisbane, I would like to thank Jesse for everything she has done for our Club, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

“Lulu has indicated to the Club she is seeking to continue her football career at another AFLW club whilst also taking employment opportunities in Melbourne.

“We wish her every success in her next chapter not only with her football career but as a first-year doctor as well.”

The AFLW trade period will begin on Friday, March 10 running until March 20.
