Brisbane have confirmed the departures of trio James Madden, Kalin Lane and Carter Michael following their 2024 campaign.
Madden will return to his home country of Ireland following six seasons and 13 AFL games with the Lions, having landed down under as a promising prospect from the Northern Hemisphere.
The Dublin product informed Brisbane this week that he was seeking a move back to Ireland to pursue a Gaelic Football career at the expiry of his contract.
Michael endured a luckless run with injuries across his time in the Queensland capital, managing just one AFL game across four years on the Lions' list due to injury and form.
The key defender departs after graduating from the Lions Academy as a local talent out of Maroochydore.
Lane landed on Brisbane's list via the 2021 Mid-Season Draft and was required to bide his time in the VFL during his four years with the club. He would not play at the top level while with the Lions.
โJimmy has played a really key role for us for a number of years coming in and out of the senior side but we respect his decision to return to Ireland and wish him all the best with his pursuits in Gaelic footy,โ Brisbane football boss Danny Daly said.
โKalin and Carter have both struggled with injury during their time at the Club. I thank all three players for their contribution to the Brisbane Lions and we wish them and their families all the best for the future.โ
Lane and Michael have not been offered contracts for the 2025 season, adding to Madden's exit and the retirement of Joe Daniher and Jarryd Lyons.
