Brisbane coach Chris Fagan says the club will use the unwanted record of having not beaten Richmond at the MCG since 2009 as motivation.
The Lions will look to continue their faultless start on Saturday as they take on the rebuilding Tigers, who have been difficult to deal with despite their age demographic.
Over the past 16 years, Brisbane has played Richmond eight times, including their latest win against the Victorian club at the home of football, but it is still a box "we want to tick off".
"Astonishing statistic," Fagan said on Thursday.
"It'll get mentioned this week. It is something we want to tick off. I don't know how many times we've played (Richmond) there in that period of time but I think the last time we coughed up a decent lead.
"It'll be something we use as motivation this week."
The MCG had previously been a stadium of suffering, losing 12 matches in a row before defeating Melbourne in Round 5 last year.
It would help buck a trend that ultimately led to the monkey being swept off the back, helping claim the 2024 premiership with wins against Geelong and Sydney at the Melbourne Colesseum.
Brisbane's overall record at the MCG from 90 games since 1987 is 22-1-67.
"We don't talk about the MCG anymore like we used to," Fagan said.
"It used to be a bug-bear of ours, and it was backed up by the statistics. But over the last couple of years, we've shown we can play really good footy at that ground."
Saturday will be one of three contests at the MCG scheduled for the Lions in 2025, with clashes against Hawthorn (Round 11) and Collingwood (Round 21) to come.
Crafty forward Kai Lohmann will force Fagan's hand into at least one change as he went down with an ankle injury.

ACL victims Tom Doedee and Keidean Coleman are making progress from their respective long-term knee injuries.
Coleman will be treated cautiously and will be given up to six weeks to return, while Doedee is set for minutes in the VFL.
