Brisbane forward Lincoln McCarthy can accept a one-game suspension after being charged by the AFL's Match Review Officer for striking.

McCarthy gained scrutiny of the MRO for his first-quarter incident involving Richmond's Kamdyn McIntosh, with the Lion's actions graded as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

That assessment sees McCarthy handed a one-game suspension, which he and the club can decide to either accept or challenge at the AFL Tribunal.

Should Brisbane and McCarthy accept the charge, the 29-year-old will miss his side's Round 17 clash West Coast at the Gabba next Thursday.

McCarthy would then be next available for the following week for Brisbane's matchup with Melbourne.

Brisbane will confirm their decision to accept or challenge the charge in the coming days.

No other charges were handed down from Thursday's game.
