Brisbane Lions duo Shadeau Brain and Ty Gallop have both signed one-year extensions to remain in maroon, blue and gold beyond 2025.

Brain's contract extension will see the Academy graduate remain on an AFL list until at least the end of 2026 after he played nine games for the Lions in his debut season, averaging a tick under 10 disposals per game.

The 21-year-old was signed as a Category B rookie before the 2023 season began after impressing in the Lions' VFL side in 2022. While marked as a medium defender, Brain has played in the forward line and across the wing in his career to date.

Brain said he is keen to continue developing and making his case for selection in the senior side.

โ€œI felt last year I took a big step and was able to play some really good footy at both AFL and VFL level,โ€ Brain said.

โ€œNow in the next couple of years, I just want to continue to grow as a player and as a person and to keep going forward to get some success with this great club.โ€

After several strong outings in practice games this year, Ty Gallop has added an additional year to his contract, set to remain a Lion until at least the end of 2027.

Another academy graduate, the 2024 Pick 42 is poised to make his case for a debut at some point this season, with lofty expectations developing as he continues his pre-season form into the VFL season.

Gallop said he was "grateful" for the opportunity to extend his deal.

โ€œI am very excited to have extended my contract with the Club for an extra year,โ€ Gallop said.

โ€œI am grateful to the club for the opportunity and I'm excited to see what I can achieve over the next three years.โ€

Brisbane general manager Danny Daly said the pair's extensions are an exciting boost to the Lions' list for the near future.

โ€œTo have two young guys commit to the football club is a great sign for us and we're looking forward to seeing both players continue to develop,โ€ Daly said.

โ€œShadeau has continued to impress year-on-year and was rewarded with an AFL debut last season, and the rewards will continue as he keeps working hard.

โ€œTy has only been at the Club for a short time, but he is an exciting prospect for us and has enjoyed a strong first pre-season on our AFL list.

โ€œIt's always a great feeling to re-sign any player, particularly when they are Queensland locals who have come through our Youi Brisbane Lions Academy.โ€

The Lions will look to bank a fourth straight win to start their premiership defence against Richmond this Saturday, while Brisbane's VFL side play Richmond across from the MCG at Swinburne Centre.
